So this year has come to an end
and I missed my chance to transcend
but being stuck in this bleeding box is no excuse to descend

Have you seen the things that I've done
slowly becoming the one
the one who started this mess that resides in my chest
forever on the run

But I can't go home, no I'm forced to travel this road
no beacon of hope, do I know that I'm not alone
starting off broken might not be the best way to grow
I know I cannot start to slow

Distraction is my effigy
these chemicals raining on me
not only interact when they become intact
they will become the death of me

But still I can embrace the sun
despite all the things that I've done
and when these waking dreams fall apart at the seams
I'll know my time has come

I won't stop the sky from falling down
I've seen it in my face
and if I hear your voice calling now
we'll find a better way

I cannot admit how hard I tried
with these tired wings to touch the sky
only in dreams do I have pride
unconsciously able to decide

Watching sunsets from this side of town
it's your eyes that keep me to the ground
and by living my life, what I've found
